Mark Hanohano - President / Director of Operations
Mark has been visually impaired since birth and is a son of two visually impaired parents and currently
has a guide dog named Livingston from Guide Dogs of America. As a small child Mark was exposed to the blind
community through his parents and their friends who were visually impaired. One event that significantly impacted
Mark's life was his experience as a counselor at Camp Bloomfield, which the most widely recognized camp for the
visually impaired in Southern California.
In 1997 Quantas Airways and the United Way came together to honor fifteen disabled volunteers whose
commitment to their community was outstanding. Mark was one of these honorees, making him Volunteer
of the Year and awarding him a week long trip to Australia. Inspired to do more than just a summer program,
Mark got that chance in 1998 when he was invited to serve on the board of Community Alliance for the Blind.
The same year Jr. Blind of America awarded Mark the Sol Coleman Award for his work and leadership in the
community.
In 1999 he was asked to serve as the Programs Director with the Intercommunity Blind Center.
Later Mark served as Activities Director for the Community Alliance for the Blind from 2000 until mid 2003. Mark
takes great pleasure from working with others who are visually impaired, sharing life experiences and caring for
those whom he works with. Mark is a co-founder of the Community Association of the Blind and intends to spend
his time in Southern California helping others through this organization.
Christine Jeune - Secretary
Richard Funes - Director of Technology Services
Richard has been a part of CAB since 2002 or so. He was accepted onto the board of directors in 2007. He has a Bachelor Of Science degree in Information Systems Security. His main duties are web administration and site maintinence. He's finished his training for Oracle Database Administration at UC Irvine. He graduated in June of this year as Valedictorian with a student achievement award. He got his Oracle Certified Professional certification from Oracle February of 2012. He's glad to be able to help out CAB members when it comes to technology stuff. I'm glad that CAB has allowed me to extend my skillset into web and e-mail administration using our current backend system.
I'm glad I'm working for CAB. Since it is one of the few organizations where not everyone on the board has unequal power. I'll explain. On our board as it stands now, Not one person has complete power over everyone else, myself included. We as a board may not agree on everything, but it is done in such a way that the person who is in disagreement is able to talk to the rest of the board and actually be heard. This goes for CAB members as well. If they need to talk to us they can do so without feeling like we don't care.
Kaiesha Jones - Director of Fundraising & Sponsorships
Kaiesha has been a part of CAB since May of 2000 she enjoyed meeting new friends, gaining independence while learning self reliance. Kaiesha has always believed that CAB is a great organization for those who are Blind and visually impaired and for those who are not but whose looking to make a difference. Kaiesha Jones received her Bachelors Degree in Social Work from California State University Long Beach; afterwards she worked several jobs working with people with disabilities and older adults. Kaiesha has worked as an Advocate for people with disabilities fighting for human rights fairness and equal opportunity since 2006. Kaiesha has proven her ability to work well with people, face challenges head on and be a leader and a voice for those who are in need of help. As the Director of fundraising and Sponsorship Kaiesha guarantees that she will do more then her best to serve CAB that includes welcoming challenges, working hard on behalf of CAB, setting a good example for future CAB Members and showing great leadership inside the community.
