Welcome to the 2009 year of the Community Association of the
Blind. We return this year jam packed with exciting events, helpful
seminars, and educational workshops.
Saturday Night Fever is a small monthly outing to local places including Santa Monica Pier,
Hollywood, Downtown Disney, and many more. Also brand new in 2009 CAB
sponsored Camp Bloomfield reunion meetings where all CAB members are welcome.
Don't miss out, be part of the events that are sure to make friendships and memories that last a lifetime.
This year we will be reorganizing with our elections and voting in June. Be active! We
greatly encourage it and appreciate the feedback and input. Members
should always feel free to submit your ideas, comments or any
questions that you would like to address to the board. These will be
the events everyone is talking about this year. On behalf of
CAB's Board, staff and volunteers, welcome, and we look forward
to your participation!

Sincerely,

Bethany Rickman
Kaiesha Jones, Director of Membership Services

A very important note from CAB's Executive Director:

We received many suggestions on how we can provide more enjoyable
activities and educational workshops but we are limited due to
available funds. Our goal is to improve the overall quality of life
by providing recreational activities, educational workshops and
informative resources to blind and visually impaired people. We will
need seed money to push CAB to the next level and fulfill the goals of
our organization. In order to achieve this we will be having an
administrative fee for all current/new members, $20.00 for adult
members and $15.00 for students starting this March 2009. This
administrative fee will go toward expenses such as office supplies,
and the registration fee to properly register CAB as a legitimate non
profit organization so that way we will be able to solicit funds from donors.
For the month of February, the CAB Board of Directors has
allowed the members to attend any event you wish for free. While at
any February event, you are free to submit your administrative fee in
advance. As a thank you, you will receive a welcome package to
officially welcome you as a member of CAB which will include an I.D.
card. Please bring the ID card with you to any CAB events so we know
you are paid up, and you will only have to fill out paperwork, such as
release forms, once a year. The administrative fee is required to
attend any CAB events after March 2009, and your fee is to create
better programs and support our great organization!

So start now, send in that administrative fee and inquire what
required forms you need to fill out and don't miss another great CAB
event. We look forward to hearing from you soon.

Thank you for your continued support of Community Association of the Blind.

Sincerely,

Frank Hanohano

CAB offers many of these programs and workshops at no cost to the
blind and visually impaired but we are always in great need of
sponsors. CAB depends on private donations and corporate sponsors to
help support the many services it provides to the blind community here
in Southern California. If your interested in finding out more info
about how you can help support CAB please e-mail us at: donate@communityassociationoftheblind.org
